UCP Marjon sponsor NSPCC Festival of Christmas
Released: 02.12.08
Student and staff volunteers from UCP Marjon entered into the competitive spirit of things on Wednesday 3rd December by decorating a Christmas tree for the `NSPCC Festival of Trees`.
The NSPCC has joined forces with the Theatre Royal, Pavillions and National Marine Aquarium to provide a glittering fundraising Christmas event to raise money to provide local services to children. For the month of December, these venues will be decorated with special Christmas trees, each of which will be sponsored by a business or organisation from the local area.
This is the eleventh anniversary of the Festival of Trees which has raised over £90,000 for the NSPCC.
Once the trees have been decorated, they will be entered into a competition for the “best dressed” tree which will be judged by the Lord Mayor on 5th Dec.
Debbie McAllister from UCP Marjon Social Action Group said
“We love sponsoring this event, and to add to the fundraising this year, we will be encouraging staff to make a donation, write their seasonal greetings on a gift tag provided and hang on the tree in the UCP Marjon reception area to display to other members of staff”.
