Students visit Mama Stones in Exeter
Released: 21.01.10
Students studying the BA Live Music degree at UCP Marjon recently got to visit Mama Stones in Exeter.
Mama Stone’s is one of the leading venues for live music in the area. The venue is known for hosting talented musicians coupled with food and drink in a bar setting, run by Joss Stone’s mum; Wendy Joseph. Artists that have played this venue include Mica Paris, Joss Stone and Johnny Mars, as well as local musical talents including N.U.M.B., the Quails and Roger Styles.
Artist Adam Isaac who is currently in a development contract with Mama Stone’s as well as working on the booking side of the business gave the students a tour. The students got to see the digital desk and met Wendy Joseph, as well as getting the low down on how the business is organised and promoted.
Live Music Student Geoff Heap said ” I think Mama Stones is a very sound venue, there aren't many places around like this especially in Exeter so it is good to bring a bit of diversity in, this gives the opportunity for bands of the jazz/soul genre to be showcased. One of the best things about Mama Stones is that it has a family atmosphere and everyone is very friendly so no matter if you are an artist or attending the gig you are going to have a good time and will be very welcomed into the venue.”
