Research Background:

Involved in research into the role of ICT in all phases of education since the early 1980s.  The initial focus was on the use of computers to support mathematics teaching in secondary school but this soon broadened out to other phases and curriculum areas.  Research in the 1990s, which led to a PhD, focused on the development of IT capability by undergraduate students and led to an interest in socio-cultural accounts of learning.
Research Interests:

The application and development of socio-cultural theories and accounts of learning in a broad range of contexts associated with the use of ICT in education.  A particular interest is the application of these theories in attempts to understand change associated with ICT.
Teaching Areas:

Have taught on both MEd and MA programmes and have supervised many dissertations.  Have also taught on BEd and PGCE primary programmes.  Currently leads the PG Secondary ICT route.
