BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education
Introduction
The Early Childhood Education Programme aims to provide an academically challenging and intellectually rigorous course of learning that develops the skills and competencies relevant to the increasing professional opportunities for employment in professional contexts within the Early Years sector. Specifically, the Programme aims to engage students with broad critical perspectives on the nature of education whilst also significantly focussing on Early Childhood Education, which includes notions of child development and care and education. It will be possible to gain Early Years Professional Status through this programme, though there will be an additional fee for the final assessment.

Module Information
Year 1
Six modules provide a comprehensive, multidisciplinary grounding in the academic, critical and practical skills that will underpin and support your learning throughout your degree. Modules will focus on the Origins, Ideas and Values of Education; Child Development, Education: Inclusion and Diversity, Child and Family in Context, Language and Literacy Development and an experiential placement.
Year 2
Again, you will study six modules. These will investigate the following areas, Pedagogies from a Global Perspective, Learning and Teaching, EYFS: Pedagogy and Play, Researching Social life, Inter-professional Practice and a further Experiential Placement with EYPS.
Year 3
Of the six modules studied in your third year, you will take two modules for your Dissertation and following modules that are focussed on Early Childhood Education: Constructions of Childhood, Perspectives of Play and Learning, Leadership and Management, as well as a final Experiential Placement which will be with EYPS if you have opted to take your final assessment.
