Entry Requirements
Our typical offer for applicants with A levels/AS levels/BTEC is 240 points, including an A-level or equivalent pass in either:
- PE/Sports Studies or Mathematics or
- Science (not necessary for BTEC applicants) and another A-level or equivalent.
- Other similar qualifications may be considered on an individual basis
- A CRB check and ISA registration are also required
Module Information
Year 1
In year 1 you will have the opportunity to studyseveral disciplines, across a number of modules,including Technique Analysis, Sport Psychology, Sport Physiology, coaching and the coaching process, health, nutrition and fitness. These disciplines are supported by a module in professional, personal and academicdevelopment.
Year 2
Year 2 focuses on developing the depth of knowledgeand application studied in year one. Modules include Applied Professional and Practical Development,Health and Fitness Training Principles, Performance Analysis, Sport Psychology and Physiology and Research Methods. There is an opportunity to choose a specialist pathway including Education Studies, Outdoor Adventure, Coaching or Sports Development.
Year 3
Year 3 allows you to focus on the speciļ¬c aspects of sport science and you are encouraged to work more independently. Modules include: Advanced Study in Sports Physiology, Applying Sports Psychology and Advanced Performance and Technique Analysis for coaching. You can also work with clients in an applied sport science setting in either a strength and conditioning or interdisciplinary capacity and develop your coaching experience with the option of a work placement module. The degree programme culminatesin a dissertation. You also have the opportunity to continue with your pathway.

Students have forged careers as Sports Science Officers, PTI instructors, in leisure management, working in community / school coaching programmes and within National Governing Bodies or postgraduate study.There is also an opportunity to continue onto a PGCE for Secondary Teacher training in PE.

Additional opportunities exist to gain nationally recognised awards including First Aid and Off-Site Safety Management. UCP Marjon is also a Sportscoach UK Premier Site giving you the opportunity to gain accredited sports related qualifications through the UK’s leading agency for development of the UK Coaching System. In addition there are numerous opportunities to gain coaching experience, through the Centre for Sports Research and Develoment, by working with local secondary and primary schools who often provide paid coaching roles to suitably qualifi ed professionals to work with their after schools clubs or school teams.
