Project and Programme Development

Bachelor's and Master's level Programmes: We are currently running two different Initial Teacher Training Programmes at Bachelors level in partnership with the Malaysian Ministry of Education, as well as an in-country Trainer Development Programme. There are also Masters programmes currently running with ITESO (Guadalajara) and the University of Colima in Mexico.

The Arrow Project,  led by David Oddie, involves the systematic development of the creative arts as a resource for reconciliation, the peaceful resolution of conflict and cross-cultural dialogue and understanding. A Website was recently created to enable young people in Plymouth to engage in a creative dialogue with young people in Palestine, Kosovo and South Africa. There are now emerging centres in Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Pakistan. There are active plans to launch a new journal and to create a network of ARROW centres across the world.

‘A Mile in My Shoes’ is a recent comprehensive impact assessment of the Arrow Project led by Tim Prentki assisted by field workers in UK, Kosovo, Palestine, South Africa, Sierra Leone and Ethiopia. The study identified significant successes in helping young people, through Arrow methods, to make relationships within and beyond their own cultures. The Report envisages a new phase of development for the Arrow Programme involving the creation of an infrastructure which will enable it to reach out on a much larger scale and become a “vital presence on the map of world peace”.
