e-Type Award

Course Name: BCS Level 2 Certificate in Touch Typing
Awarding Body: British Computer Society

Course Description
You’ll be amazed at how much you can increase efficiency and reduce costs by being able to touch-type. By learning to touch-type using all fingers, a typical computer user spending an average of 20 hours per week at a PC could save around half this time. e-Type is the ideal way for individuals to learn these touch-typing skills.

e-Type will provide the skills to be able to type both quickly and accurately. It is a fully packaged solution comprising computer-based training materials, online testing and certification.

Not everyone has a requirement to be able to type at the same speed.  e-Type results are therefore graded on typing speed to allow recognition for differing achievements. E-type is recognised by the regulatory authorities as both a Level 1 and Level 2 qualification in England, Wales and Northern Ireland as follows:

  • Level 1 - minimum of 20 words per minute with a minimum of 98% accuracy
  • Level 2 - minimum of 40 words per minute with a minimum of 98% accuracy

The course will cost £85.00 which will include:

  • Qualification registration
  • Computer-based training on a memory stick (which you can take away) or online
  • Use of facility at Marjon Open Learning Unit if required
  • Up to 3 online tests
  • Up to 3 results certificates

Certification
Included within the cost of the candidate registration will be the opportunity to take up to 3 tests. This will provide you with an opportunity to improve your grade, if you wish. Whilst accuracy remains a priority across all grades, typing speed will be rewarded at 20, 40 and 60 words per minute with either a Bronze, Silver or Gold result. Only one certificate per grade will be issued however.

Guided Learning Hours
E-Type has been accepted as a 40 guided learning hour programme.
