Course Description
ECDL/ICDL is the fastest growing qualification in Britain; it is becoming a mandatory qualification for most staff working within most government agencies e.g. NHS and LEA and is recognised throughout Europe and Worldwide. It certifies that the holder has knowledge of a broad range of Microsoft software applications. All learning is computer-based with access to support materials to enhance learning.

The course consists of seven units listed below (click on each module to view the new version 5 syllabus):

Module 1 - Security for IT Users (adobe .pdf, 67 kbs)

Certification:
The assessements must be taken in the Unit with an invigilator present. You are allowed up to 45 minutes per module; the test is on-line with an immediate result.

  • Completion of Units 1 to 7 will generate an ECDL Certificate
  • Completion of Units 1, 2 and 7 will result in the ECDL Essentials (Part 1) / BCS Level 1 ITQ Award in IT User Skills
  • Completion of Units 3, 4, 6 and the new unit 'Improving Productivity Using IT' will result in the ECDL Extra (Part 2) / BCS Level 2 ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills

Learners who complete ECDL Essentials and ECDL Extra will automatically receive an ECDL certificate.

Guided Learning Hours
The ECDL course is self paced. the course can be studied in the Unit and or online from home. As a guide, depending on your existing knowledge, you should complete a module in 15 to 20 hours.

Entry Requirements
Level 1 knowledge at Clait level is recommended
