University College Plymouth St Mark & St John

Am I Fit Enough?

It's a good Question, and one that's tough to answer.

This is an endurance event, so is designed to be demanding and challenging, as well as being a lot of fun. There are two routes available (long route which is a maximum of 8 hours and a short route which is a maximum of 5 hours).

Winners for each entry category are determined by the number of points achieved during the allotted time. You (your team) will receive a map and route on the day, which will have you cycling across some of the City’s most beautiful and scenic areas as a means of getting to different activities (e.g. running, wall climbing, abseiling, rowing, kayaking, orienteering). The actual activities will only be revealed on the day, so expect the unexpected.

You (your team) collect points for completing each of the activities as well as cycling the entire route. If you wish, you can bypass any of the activities or cut off part of the cycle route, and forgo the points for anything you miss. Therefore, as you participate you can adapt your actual route to fit you (your team). So although very challenging, the event is suitable for people of different fitness levels and ability – whether a hardened adventure race enthusiast or an adventure race novice.

Knowing that there will be participants of different ability, the event has been designed to stagger the flow of competitors along the route to help reduce any congestion and to allow everyone to compete to the best of their abilities without unnecessary delays.
