Sports Therapy Clinic

The UCP Marjon Sports Therapy Clinic provides a sports therapy service in a supervised and student lead environment. The supervision is provided through nationally accredited staff and the clinics provide the opportunity for clients to receive a high quality service in a community focused and friendly environment. The BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy students offer a variety of services and are trained to assess and treat patients presenting with musculoskeletal injuries caused either through participation in sport or everyday activity.

UCP Marjon has a ‘state of the art’ 12 bed sports therapy clinic, which has a full range of professional equipment including ultra-sound, electrotherapy and a rehabilitation area.

The clinic is open to members of the public as well as Marjon students and staff.

What is Sport Therapy?

Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the rehabilitation and prevention of injury. The aim of the service is to provide advice, treatment and ongoing care with a view to injury prevention or getting the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age or ability. It utilises the principles of sport and exercise science and incorporates physiological and pathological processes to prepare the participant for training, competition and, where applicable, work.

Fees:

Treatment: £10 per session

What to expect.

On the first appointment a detailed case history is taken, followed by a thorough examination. This will last up to one hour. Where appropriate patients should wear suitable attire or bring a change of clothes as necessary, for example shorts for a lower limb injury.

Please be aware that the services provided are for training purposes, and at times, cases may be discussed for learning purposes.
